"Salve" to you from my girl - let the Latin adventures begin
Today Susan, my seven-year-old second grader, began her Prima Latina DVD. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive to begin. I pictured all sorts of weaping and whining due to (shudder, shudder) Latin. But all went well. Actually, more than well - she loved it. Since this is our first attempt at a foreign language, we are easing into it slowly. We listened to the first Latin prayer on the CD several times. Susan, a strong auditory learner, was smitten. She even had no trouble ignoring the distraction of her three-year-old brother who decided to dance about the room just as I put it in the player.
When I mentioned the DVD that goes with the CD, Susan immediately wanted to watch it. So we did. And again she amazed me. Not only did she listen but she participated with what the teacher wanted the students to parrot back.
You go, girl! Never underestimate your child's desire to learn. I'm glad I didn't.
